Regarding Zhoushan, maybe first in your mind are putuo shan and zhujia jian, and most people just visit there, but do you know Dinghai,an ancient city with history and culture, which have the historical streets Dong Dajie,Zhong Dajie,Xi Dajie,Chai Shuinong etc. and numerous historical sites.
What you will feel when walking at the stone street, what you will feel when looking at the old wooden houses, what you will feel when standing between the modern and ancient times. What you will think if the ancient street is just behind the busy road and the ancient resides are just hinding in the tall buildings. Maybe one dusk when you wander at the flagstone lane among the antique architectures, raising your head by accident,as though seeing a pretty heriess of grand courtyard leaning on the window of the second floor, smilling at you ,and then you maybe forget when & where you are. Hai Ding Ze Bo Ning, which means when the sea is quiet ,the waves will be peaceful.Ningbo is named from Bo Ning, meaning tranquil waves, and Dinghai is named from Hai Ding, meaning calm sea.Dinghai is warmer in winter and cooler in summer than Ningbo, with clean sky and fresh air.Dinghai is smaller than Ningbo, and a sea island,so from the city you can see the mountains with green trees and the sea with sailing boats, especially in the summer, when you sit around the seaside to have many nature fresh sea foods at night stalls with the soft and warm sea wind, drinking the beers, listening the sound of waves, maybe you will enjoy yourself so much as to forget to go home.At the same time, the famous fishing port city Shen Jiamen is very near to Dinghai, just about 20mins by taxi. From Ningbo to Dinghai you can take the coach direct (costs RMB31)about 2 hours from north bus station(every 20-30mins from 5:40am to 5:30pm) or south bus station(every 30-60mins from 7:10am to 4:40pm) or No.758 bus(costs RMB5) about 1.5 hours from east bus station(every 10-15mins from 5:40am to 7pm)or drive to Baifeng ferry in Beilun, then by boat about 50mins(costs RMB13,every 20-30mins from 5:20am to 11:10pm ). Welcome to Dinghai and have a good time there,I'd like to be your guide, pls.contact me by Skype Bluesea or MSN megqp@hotmail.com, thanks. ![]() |

Bus East Station = 758 to Beilun Ferry Port , Fee 6Y 90 Minutes
Ferry > Zhoushan Yadanshan Port 19Y 40 Minutes Zhoushan Port > Dinghai : Bus 27 (stays outside de Port Area on the right) 2 Y (Taxis, inside the port area, wont have 40Y !! ) I was surprised to discover Dinghai as a real nice small city with an attractive, CLEAN, city center where the traffic is "normal" and not so foolish than in Ningbo ( )and where walking is pleasant. Sure that I will return! |

Hi,Oviedo, thanks for your update for bus No., Yes,now it is No.758, not 558. Oh,now the fees are changed? I remembered when I just came back from Dinghai in Feb.,it is 5 Y for bus and 13 Y for ferry. By the way, you can take No.31 bus at the Yadan shan ferry (inside of the ferry, nearby the Taxi stand) to the city center.

Thanks Oviedo for this information.
Good to know that Dinghai is a nice place to visit. I was myself surprised to have such a quiet place like Zhujiajian so close to Ningbo. In fact we usually go far away from where we live, often skipping some nice places almost next to us ![]() Thanks Bluesea for your post. Yes we can edit posts but in the limit of 48 hours. After that another post must be done. Still I updated the bus no for you. By the way as you seem to be a great ambassador for Dinghai, you should think of opening a small youth hostel over there. I'm sure you would have quite a few foreigners going there during the nice days, at least Oviedo has convinced me.. ![]() |
