To add on this sad news , all the domestic airlines had increased the petrol tax from yesterday 1 of July, 2008.
under 800km Before : 50 Now : 80 above 800km Before : 100 Now : 150 Now from Ningbo to Shanghai is 630RMB -- for less than 300km ! I've already decided to replace my car by a bicycle to save some money -- as my car is 2.4 L taking a lot of petrol , but how can I manage with my bicycle if I want to go to Guangzhou or Shanghai ?!![]() |

some ideas.
1. downsize to a smaller car. downsizing doesn't mean having to downgrade, though i thoroughly understand that to Chinese people, showing off that one is successful means generally buying the biggest most expensive car brand that one can afford, painted black. even they may only have use for the front two seats -driver and passenger. 2. invest in a well designed and made foldup bike that can put into the boot/trunk of your car/taxi/bus/train/plane and then use it to ride the aspect of your journey where traffic is the densest. so if you travel from Ningbo to Hangzhou, take a your bike on a train or bus then unfold your bike and use it to commute within the city. good exercise too! 3. walk to local destinations. need to go shopping, then why not take a walk with your recyclable shopping bag to your local supermarket, buy a few items then walk back. great exercise and strength training carrying the shopping. more frequent trips help spread the load. 4. get an e-bike... join the masses. |
