We went to ZPlace on April the 27th. We expected to find a nice buffet like announced in the advertisings
Hawker Sundays Every Sunday 11am - 5pm Laksa, Roti Prata, Fried Kway Teow, Prawn Noodle Soup, Fried Hokkien Mee, Bak Kut Teh, Teh Tarik and more! 48RMB ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET! : but found ... nothing! Not any meal was prepared. They present us a list of dishes that you can order together for 48Yuan. If you order 2 or 3 or 4 or all, you need to pay 48 Yuan. Most of the dishes are ... noodles! And they need to cook your meal AFTER you order it...... Is this a new art of buffet, or what???? Oh, + the waitress didn't speak one word of English and seemed to be happy that we leave the place.  We decided to leave the place and went eat New Garden Hotel Jiefang Nanlu, opposite of the Yifu Theater. Friendly, not expensive and a real great nice buffet for 68 Y/pp...  |

Hi Oviedo,
We are most sorry for not meeting you as we were in Z Place for the last 4 consecutive Sundays. Perhaps I will need to explain "Hawker Buffet". In Singapore, we pride our local indigenous food that brings together all the different cultures from Asia like India (Roti Prata) Satay (Malaysian)Laksa (Nonya people - mixture of Chinese & Malay who inter-marry) Fried Hokkien Noodles (brought in from Fujian Province), Bak Kut Teh (Teochew chinese immigrants from Shantou) etc. We do the Buffet in individually cooked portions so that it is fresh and hot when it comes out. This is a misconception to Westerners who expects a full layout of food to be displayed. In our Advertising "Hawker Buffet", it will be very clear to Asians. This misunderstanding is very unfortunate. We offer more than a dozen choices and includes, snacks, noodles, rice and drinks and Asian desserts. However, in every instance, my waiter or waitress will call us if there is a foreigner in Z Place during Sundays since it is where the Asians and foreign friends meet for Hawker food and drinks. How we could have missed your visit, it was unfortunate, otherwise, this misunderstanding will not have happened. If we have upset you, we are truly apologetic. Jojo Marketing Assistant |
