Hello,
we are a family new to Ningbo, we are looking for some things to do with kids (9&12) thinking ice skating, go karts, bowling and hopefully somethings we dont have to pay for. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks |

hi,
it will be very difficult to find such activities here in NB city, and that too, free. Other activities such as learning some drawings, musical instruments, are there, but one has to pay of coz. Roller blading is also available, but depends on the climate for the day. I wish you the best, and if you come across anything FREE, kindly do let the other foreigners know, as we also have children and looking for activities for them also. thanks and welcome to Ningbo City. |

hey there,
not mean to break your heart, but seldomly entertainment for kids in ningbo is free of charge. if it does, i doubt it if it is really of fun. ![]() anyone here could advise me what kind of activities would be suitable and entertaining for April? either for adults, kids or the whole family. flying kites? bowling? drifting? golf? cooking competition? suggestions will be appreciated, many thanks! |

Terrible isn't it? There really isn't much for children to do here.
There are no go carts here to my knowledge, but, considering the way they drive on the streets, I think that is probably a good thing. We bought bicycles for all of us and we go on rides together, but we are in Beilun where it is a little safer and we have some places to go. If you are in Ningbo then it is more dangerous. Last year there was an ice rink at the Youngor Stadium (on the west side of town on the same road as Carrefour), but I don't think it is there this year. I will check on it the next time I go to Carrefour. We go bowling at the Perfecta Fitness Center sometimes, but it is (like all buildings here) so cold that you can see your breath. Wear layers of clothing and thin gloves. The finger holes in the bowling balls are too small for most of us westerners though. You will have to develop a new release technique or your fingers will break off .My friends used to go swimming at the pool in the New Century Hotel. good prices and heated. We don't like to swim in winter ourselves. We make friends with people who have kids the same age as ours ( girl 11 and boy 9) mostly through our school (AIAN) and we arrange sleepovers and watch movies, play Wii, boardgames, charades, and go bike riding or play basketball and tennis if the weather is good. Since you are new, you probably haven't met many parents yet. You are welcome to join us anytime. Last edited by been there done that : 23-02-08 at 22:34. |
