Hi Annie !

Maybe you should give readers a bit more information about who you are.

Did you ever teach Chinese ? Do you have any experience in teaching ? with foreigners ?
Did you just get out from University ?

I am sure that people might be interested if you first give a bit more information about yourself

Hello Jacky, Hello Annie,

Everything depends on what we understand by learning as quite a few guys often mix "learning" with "training".

For example "training" applies to a foreigner already in China for while who can speak a bit Chinese while the Chinese guy in front can speak a bit English. They can sit and talk together around a cup of coffee while exchanging information and try to help each other. This is a bit like a speaking corner and more a practice session than a real lesson...

Now "learning" concerns foreigners who don't have the basics to speak Chinese and want somebody to help them to first learn the pronunciation (sheng), useful vocabulary and grammar. In this case both should follow a book and do the exercises together.
The student (foreigner) must write down the new words at least in pinyin to remember them. Next time they should start by reviewing the previous lesson to see if the student still remember the vocabulary and grammar that has been studied.
Of course the student should agree to take at least 1 or 2 lessons/week and do his best to review the lessons at home. Not easy when we don't have a lot of spare time but this is the only way to progress...

In this case, 30rmb/hour is quite reasonable as this is a real lesson not just a training...

Hope this helps
