Default 2007-10-02 - REPORT : Local wedding in Yuyao with great pictures from Wong Can

Oct 2nd,I took part in a wedding in Yuyao and Gulin town.
I think I drunk more than 3000ml beer on that day,but I still took back some pictures.
Best wishes to bride and bridegroom.

pic A:Bride and her three bridesmaids were waiting for the "moment".

pic B: Bridegroom arrived in the bride's room.Other people were cleaned in this room except me.

pic C: Feeding each other----it was sweet and also a part of "ceremony".

pic D: All the meat were ready.

pic E: For kids, wedding means a sumptuous dinner.

pic F: Bride and bridegroom were distributing and lighting ChungHwa brand cigarettes for elder people.

pic G: Quilt---What is this for? It is the gift from bride's parents. It will be transferred to the new apartment of new couple.
It is a tradition.

pic H: In the afternoon, the 2nd part of wedding began in the bridegroom's home."Unfortunately", his villagers already set up a mini road-block and got ready to "blackmail" the happy couple. Of course,it is a tradition, what this "mob" need is only candy and cigarettes.

pic I: Bridegroom was distributing cigarettes to his villagers and got the pass finally.

Great photos !

I like traditions around the Chinese wedding especially when people block the way to the couple to get cigarettes or candies...

There is also the VERY important prenuptial photo session.
When the weather is nice we can see many couples in Lao Waitan posing for wedding photos.

Thanks for the photos, but also for the captions explaining whats going on. Often we see things, but feel like asking "Why?"

"

i went for a wander yesterday in Lao Waitan and found untold prenuptial couples posing for photos, all dressed in their finery.
They all looked so stunning, i took a few photos myself. Said 'congratulations'. Asked 'when is the wedding?' (thought they'd say 'this, afternoon'). All the couples said "next year"

What's this - True Love Waits?!?
