Anyone have a list (in pinying and CHS) of roads where restrictions for vehicles apply in Ningbo. On odd and even days of the week, certain roads carry restrictions, to limit the number of vehicles on any given day. Number plates ending with odd numbers are restricted to using such roads on Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun vs number plates ending with even numbers use restricted roads on Tues, Thurs, Sat. Seems even number plates miss out on a day...
I'd like to get a list and map together to help myself and other foreigner drivers avoid the tickets, for driving on such roads without knowing it. Its happened to me several times, where I have inadvertently driven on such roads without knowing there was such restrictions in place only to have the fine arrive by mail several weeks later. Even just a list would do and I'll create the map... D |

Hi Sinned,
This is a great idea ! I'm also often worried when crossing bridges. My plate number is finishing by 0 (zero) so I know that I can cross during the even days but I'm not always clear about the rest... Is anyone driving in Ningbo got a few tips to share with Sinned ? |

I guess this rule is only applicable for 2 bridges in down town area one is the bridge in Zhong shan dong lu which connects ti yani to jiandong. The other one is just the bridge in front of CITIC international hotel which connected Ti yani to Jiangdong. (sorry I don't know the names of the bridges) Both the bridges are close to the new shangari la which is scheduled to open in a few months.
Usually if they take a picture then you need to pay. If the police see you then they will stop you but when they see that you are a lawai then they just let you go that is what happened to me a few times. But if you get a picture then you have to pay the fine. |

Yes Ganesh, the bridge you talked about is just the Ling Bridge Volcano posted a closing announcement yesterday.
So there is only one bridge (Jiangxia Qiao) that still follows the way of odd and even date/plate number -- by the way, it has nothing to do with the DAY (Monday, Tuesday, Wed etc.) but according to the DATE (20th, 21st, 22nd etc.) Still there are some places you must pay attention that you can't turn on the left, and some other roads is only one-way road. Confusing even for Chinese ! . Definitely the one who can give us the full list will be so helpful for everybody who drives ! |
