NEWS: Bridge connecting Ningbo to Zhoushan Island !
New 27kms BRIDGE connecting Ningbo to Zhoushan Island !
Remember HelloNingbo’s report about Zhujia Jian Island ? (see HERE) The beach was so beautiful but the time we queued for the ferry was terrible - We spent 4 hours on our way back just waiting in line! But from October, no need to take the ferry if you go to Zhoushan  Yes you will be very happy to take the advantage of the new bridge - actually we can talk about new "bridges”.It has been a long and very tough work to connect Zhoushan Island with Ningbo mainland as the 5 bridges in the project need to cross 4 islands, 2 tunnels and last for 50 kilometers. The total investment is more than 10 billion yuan. Hopefully, end of the work has now been reached. The latest news from Zhoushan government announced that the bridges will finally be all connected and ready to use during October. By that time if you take your car from Ningbo city center to Zhoushan Island, it won’t take you more than 1.5 hours. So I guess we will have more chance to have a sunbathing or enjoy the fresh seafood! What you see on the photo is the longest bridge of the five called: Jintang Bridge. Construction was started in April 2006 and this is today the third longest bridge in China with 27kms! It connects Jintang Island and Zhenhai (Ningbo) together and soon will be reattached with the Ningbo City Ring Expressway. |
